It was a bitter cold day on Thursday 16 November, when a group of year 5 and 6 children went to Wolsingham Comprehensive School to take part in a Sainsbury’s School Games Tag Rugby competition. The 20 children were split into 2 teams and fought hard throughout the biting day. The children displayed an excellent attitude and showed great sportsmanship throughout all their games. Miss Mawson was exceptionally proud of all the children who represented the school, one team came 4th and another came 5th. Well done to all of the children who participated.
Art Club
The School Council requested an art club for KS2 due to many suggestions in our suggestion box. This was provided as an option during Autumn 2nd half term and from the images above, you can see that the children are thoroughly enjoying this experience.
UK Parliament Week
Tow Law Millennium Primary School took part in UK Parliament week. The children enjoyed learning about the Houses of Parliament, our Prime Minister Theresa May and taking part in democratic voting.
They thoroughly enjoyed using the publications from the Parliament Education Service.
Year 5 Multi-skills at Parkside Academy
Tow Law Millennium’s year 5 pupils have taken part in the first of a 3 day Multi-skills programme, running throughout the year, at Parkside Academy.
The children enjoyed trampolining and fun challenges on the rock climbing wall. They also showed off their debating, reasoning and team working skills when they were challenged to come up with a plan to survive on a deserted island.
A carousel of science activities allowed the children hands on experience of carrying out experiments – finding out how to survey habitats, investigating the periodic table and how fireworks get their colours as well as producing a rainbow filled test tube of colours by mixing liquids with different densities.
The children had a fantastic time and were most impressed by the young leaders, Cain and Niamh, who looked after them throughout the day. Several children were awarded certificates and will be invited to join Parkside academy’s award ceremony. All are eagerly looking forward to their next visit.

*Attendance*
Every school day counts and, with this in mind, we have recently reviewed our Attendance Policy.
Every single day a child is absent from school equates to a day of lost learning.
‘Cinderella’ Pantomime
On Wednesday 1st November, our whole school enjoyed a fantastic pantomime of the fairytale ‘Cinderella’. The children laughed, sang and joined in throughout the performance and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We celebrated the achievements from our first half term of 2017 – 2018 on the final day of half term in October.
Children received behaviour certificates for outstanding behaviour across the half term. Swimming certificates were also handed out to pupils who had achieved their swimming award.
Well done for your achievements!
*Ofsted Inspection* – ‘This school continues to be good’
On Tuesday 3rd October we were inspected by Ofsted and I am very pleased to announce that we retained our grading of a good school.
All of our pupils work extremely hard and the staff are dedicated and committed to providing the highest standards for our children.
I hope you enjoy reading the letter I received from Claire Brown, Her Majesty’s Inspector, and I wish to say thank you to all the parents for their supportive comments.
Mrs Jackson
*LED lighting*
A massive thank you to everyone who has supported our LED lighting project over the past month.
Voting has now closed and we will find out the results on Monday 6th November.
Thank you once again!
Harvest Festival
What a fantastic Harvest Festival celebration day!
On Friday 13th October, our pupils took part in many different harvest activities throughout the school day. Parents and carers were invited to join their children for a special harvest lunch. Then parents joined their children in their classes to take part in Harvest craft activities. Finally we all walked to St Philip and St James’ church for our Harvest service.
