X Factor

September 4, 2017 by helendobson

It was Tow Law X Factor on Friday 7 July, and what a night! The acts enthralled and amazed the audience and judges with a wide variety of music. Twenty two children took part in the evening and their hard work paid off when they all performed beautifully either singing or dancing. Some children did both and must have been exhausted by the end of the night. They worked tirelessly for months to improve their performances and it all paid off. The children performed to a packed audience. They are all winners as it takes a huge amount of guts to get on stage and sing and dance in front of the huge audience. However we do have an audience vote, the votes were collected and sent to be counted. During this Kacey (an ex pupil and ex winner of Tow Law X Factor) peeformed a beautiful rendition of Running by Beyonce, followed by the raffle being drawn. Then the moment came and Grace was announced the winner of X Factor 2017 singing My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. It was a very emotional moment for Grace and the realisation that she had won overwhelmed her. However, all the performers joined her on stage and supported her as she sang the winning song to round the evening off. It was as ever a wonderful night and a joy to see so many talented children. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, parents, staff, carers and helpers, judges an Mr and Mrs Shaw for the great balloons. The final thanks goes to the children, you were all amazing!

We raised a fantastic £718.76 from tickets, raffle and refreshments.

They started by bowling and set themselves challenge after challenge. Following this they had a relaxing lunch together. Then on the afternoon they prepared themselves for the Laser Quest challenge. They were given the equipment and got ready for the challenge then set of to try to become the laser quest hero. After this they were exhausted and had a well earned refreshment break before returning to school. A great day was had by all!

Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly

September 3, 2017 by helendobson

On Tuesday 18 July we had the emotional Leavers’ assembly for the children. They all presented their own special memories of their time at school. In addition they were presented with awards from Miss Mawson.  The afternoon culminated in the children singing a performance of their own rendition of  One Last Time, which they rewrote about their experiences of school.  It was a very poignant and moving afternoon, the year 6 children should be exceptionally proud of themselves. They have achieved great things at our school, well done to all of you!

Celebrations Trophy Assembly

August 30, 2017 by helendobson

Our Celebrations Trophy Assembly was a brilliant occasion that celebrated the fantastic achievements of our pupils. Children from Key Stage One and Key Stage Two received trophies for their outstanding work across the academic year.

We also had a special visit from Chris Affleck, Investing in Children. Chris came along to our assembly to present our pupils with the Investing in Children Award, following his visit a few weeks earlier when he met with our School Councillors. A massive well done to our School Council for providing everyone in your school with a voice.

We would also like to say goodbye to Miss Thompson. Miss Thompson spent a year with us at Tow Law Millennium and we would like to wish her the best of luck in her future teaching career.

Our assembly ended with a fantastic performance from our X Factor winner.

Inspire Day Three

July 16, 2017 by helendobson

All our pupils attended an assembly with Chris to review everything they have learnt in the inspire workshops across the year. They enjoyed hearing Chris speak about his experiences and linking these to their own.

Some of our KS2 pupils were very lucky because Chris attended their usual Monday swimming session. It isn’t every day you have a Commonwealth gold medal winner at your swimming lesson!

Unfortunately due to rain and damp ground conditions, our sports day was unable to happen as planned on Monday 10th September. But we are very lucky that Chris has agreed to come back in autumn term to attend our rearranged sports day on Thursday 14th September.

Class 4 Burnhill Visit

July 6, 2017 by helendobson

Our Year 1’s and 2’s visited Burnhill on Tuesday 4th July (otherwise known as the wettest day ever!).

The children came into school very excited about their trip, despite the hideous wet weather outside! They remained eager and enthusiastic throughout the whole day, despite the rain not stopping once!

They enjoyed making parts to go into the ‘Bug Hotel’ and then moved on to weave on the willow sculpture (which they were very disappointed was not finished yet as it would have provided a cover from the rain!).

In the afternoon, we enjoyed pond dipping and caught many different types of pond life.

Thank you to Mr Bell for a fantastic day of outdoor activities. The only complaint of the day from the children was that Miss Dobson had not done her job of booking nice sunny weather for Class 4’s visit!
