Coronavirus update 17th March

March 17, 2020 by helendobson

Please find below our letter providing Coronavirus information.

Coronavirus letter 17/3/2020

Please follow the updated guidance for households with symptoms:

Yesterday, the Government introduced new guidance on whole household isolation in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak:

  • if you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started
  • if you live with others and you or another member of the household have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
  • for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14-day isolation period.

Coronavirus update 16th March

March 16, 2020 by helendobson

As I am sure you will appreciate, we are currently dealing with a complex and rapidly changing situation. My first priority will always be the health and safety of the pupils and staff in our school.

This is an entirely unprecedented situation and we are following official advice from the government and NHS.

On a practical level, please follow updates on our Facebook Page relating to the day to day running of the school. We will be updating this on a very regular basis.

Please can I assure you that, as always, your children are our primary focus and should you wish to discuss specifics relating to your child, please ring the office to speak to me.

Well done to all pupils involved in our; School Council, Buddies, Green Leaders, Young Carers and Sports Leaders.

School crossing patrol vacancy

September 22, 2019 by helendobson

Durham County Council:

We are keen to appoint a School Crossing Patrol as soon as possible to a vacancy at A68 Wolsingham Road in Tow Law.

Times of operation:

·   8.30am – 9.00am

·   3.00pm – 3:30pm

1 hour daily

5 hours weekly

Pay rate

£9.36 per hour

[from 1.4.19]

Duties:

Use the uniform and sign provided to stop traffic.

Cross all pedestrians wishing to use your crossing patrol point during specified times.

You must:

Be punctual and honest.

Have good communication skills.

Have good road sense and be confident around traffic.

Recruitment:

Completion of an application form and attend interview

If appointed a full DBS is required.

Uniform provided and full training is given.

Although the Council regards the provision of a school crossing patrol service as an important contribution to the safety of children in County Durham, this provision is a permissive function rather than a statutory obligation of the council and it must be appreciated that parental responsibility is in no way diminished by the exercise of this service.

Therefore, until a new permanent patrol is appointed, we continue to remind parents & carers to exercise care when sending their children to school, remembering that children of the younger age group concerned are not normally capable of assessing traffic speed and distance, and may experience difficulty in crossing certain roads on their own.

If you are interested, or know of anyone else who would be interested in carrying out this worthwhile duty, please contact the Road Safety Team for an informal discussion on 03000 268168 or apply directly via the Council website: [closing date 07.10.2019].
