A year ago, our Year 6 pupils planted trees at Thornley with Durham Wildlife Trust. We have had an update about these trees and wanted to share it with you:
‘The trees are really doing well. I understand that it was hoped that there would be a small plaque to define where these trees were and I have talked to Wolsingham Parish Council about this and hopefully there will be something soon.’
‘A lot has changed since the pupils were there, a car park at the entrance has been made and we have planted over 1000 trees. In December last year we started to plant a hedge around the car park and this year, 2018, we have another £150 from Durham County Council to continue planting a hedge further around the site. So when the trees and hedges are established it will be a very lovely place to visit.’
Anne Porter, the Heart of Durham Project Officer at Durham Wildlife Trust would like to invite everyone to a community planting day:
‘We are having another community planting day on February 24th of February and your pupils and their families would be very welcome to come and help plant.’
More details about the community planting day will be posted on the Tow Law Facebook page.
