I moved to the North East in 1974 and Tow Law in 1989; Raising my family and working as a ‘Youth and Community’ and ‘Art worker’ at Tow Law Community Centre and ScrapBank, with the support of Community Education and Durham County Council. I went on to study at University of Sunderland as mature student, BA and MA Programme of Fine Art and first year PGSE New College Durham.
Taking up a youth support worker position at Tow Law Community Centre 2007, developing activities, projects and resources in strength of partnership until the end of the youth service 2018. I have very much enjoyed my post developing activities for children and young people with music, art, sport and outdoor activities, setting up 1st Tow Law Scouts, projects and holiday activities with both Tow Law Primary Schools; with Flis Chesters and Michelle Martin of Sure Start and with the support of 3 Towns AAP and Tow Law Town Council.
I have worked with some wonderful children, young people and volunteers at Tow Law Community Centre which now celebrates a new board, carrying forwards the trust aims of its members. In living and working in Tow Law I very much enjoy its environment and community spirit, especially the children in the way they approach new experiences with their enthusiasm and love of life.
In taking up position of Community Governor at Tow Law Millennium Primary School I will aim to look out for well-being of children and staff, of championing environmental and creative projects, and developing community resource.
