Class 4 Sikh Temple and Class 3 Hindu Temple Visit

June 29, 2016 by helendobson

On Wednesday 22nd June, Class 3 and Class 4 went on a trip to Newcastle. Class 3 visited the Hindu Temple and Class 4 visited the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara).

Class 3 visited the ISKON Hindu temple, on Westgate Road in Newcastle. During the visit the children found out about the history of Hinduism and the main beliefs. Kirtida, the temple leader, was impressed with the children’s knowledge of Hinduism. The children were allowed to dress up in traditional costumes and were told about the traditions of festivals and weddings, as well as having a drumming workshop. Part if the visit was learning about meditation, the class really enjoyed this experience.

They they got to experience the main hall in the temple and enjoyed listening to a member of the Gurdwara singing Guru. Following this, they explored the remaining rooms in the temple and enjoyed asking Cloud lots of interesting questions.
