On Tuesday 20th February, Class 3 went on a visit to Durham Cathedral. The sun was shining for their morning of geography fieldwork skills on the riverbanks. The children were given compasses and a map. We walked along the riverbanks, with our guide pointing out key ‘landmarks’ that the children would then include on their map when we were back in the education building. They learnt about bridges, the corn and fulling mills and the counts house.[Slideshow "geography-fieldtrip" not found]
After enjoying their lunch, the children then entered the cathedral for an afternoon learning about the life of St Cuthbert. They enjoying dressing up as the different people in the story and hearing the story told in different areas of the cathedral, including a visit to St Cuthbert’s shrine.[Slideshow "st-cuthbert" not found]
The children were fantastically behaved and made the staff very proud to have them on this visit representing our school. Thank you to the lovely staff at the cathedral who made the children’s day very enjoyable.
