The Early Years team welcomed some new members to school this week. Their four Ginger Nut Ranger Hens were purchased from Durham Hens. They settled really well into their new coop, that had been sourced from The feed Warehouse, Delves Lane. In fact they have settled in so well that they started laying eggs on the second day.in school.
The children held an election in their classes to give the new arrivals their names. They can easily be told apart because the girls, each have a fashionable ankle bracelet in their own individual colour:
Mrs McClucky, named by Class 3, has yellow,
Pecker, named by Class 4 , has blue,
Smidge, named by Reception, has green,
and Flower, named by Nursery, has red.
They are currently in their new run, but this is going to be extended in the near future so they have more space to run around in. They are fed with chicken pellets, which they can access 24 hours and have fresh water available in their hen house.
